Hi, I am Tanya. I am a writer. I was born in Russia, spent my adolescence in Israel, have then lived in Canada, the US, the UK, and am now based in Israel again.
I live here with my two kids and one trilingual labrador. The kids are trilingual too, in case you were wondering.
I write about language, identity, belonging, parenting, and sometimes other stuff.
In my past life, I was a linguist and have researched the structure of words in Oji-Cree, an Algonquian language spoken in Canada. Did you know that nobody really knows what a 'word' is? Not even linguists. Especially not linguists.
I suppose I've always loved words (whatever those are) but now I love them for the stories that they can tell.
I also love faces. Words and faces, yes.
